All religions are false. They are at best misleading and divisive, and at worst, violent and harmful.

All religions are based on an unsubstantiated belief in a higher power. Many incorporate extreme violence and non-tolerance of other religions. They also severely limit the progress and maturation of the human race. Not a single religion is based on any scientifically proven evidence.

All religions were created by us humans, as a power-base to control the masses. This power-base works because the vast majority of people cannot live their lives without some guidance from a "higher" power.

“I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world.” – Richard Dawkins
“I find the whole business of religion profoundly interesting. But it does mystify me that otherwise intelligent people take it seriously.” – Douglas Adams
“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.” – Stephen Roberts

And so religions were created to fill this uniquely human need. But they were created to be entirely unfathomable by the average person - so much so, that it was almost impossible for the average person to understand (because there is no hard evidence whatsoever), and so religions are completely useless as ways to explain the meaning of life or anything else. In fact, to state it bluntly, they have become extremely useless and annoying. It is better to say we are unable to supply the answer to why we are here, than state that any of the current religions have any viable explanation, since they they quite self-evidently don't.

It should also be blindingly obvious to most rational people that if you are born into a family that follows a particular religion, then the chances are extremely high that you will also follow the same religion, since you will have been indoctrinated with it from a very young age. It is statistically quite rare for people in this situation to break free of the religion of their birth, or to change to another religion. As Richard Dawkins says, there is no such thing as a "Christian child" or a "Muslim child" since they are born into that geographical or family religion, and are not yet old enough to know bullshit when they hear it.
